Twin Blocks

The Twin Block is a removable appliance that is made up of two components; an upper and lower plate, which works together to posture the lower jaw forward. The twin blocks free up the “locked-in” lower jaw and encourage it to grow to its fullest potential. At times, both the upper and lower components of the twin blocks may also have expansion screws to widen the arches.
The twin blocks are used in place of headgear, in growing patients to correct excessive over jet.
Using twin blocks during the formative years (children ages 7-12) can eliminate the need for jaw surgery at a later age.
